About Worms Arma:

Worms: Armageddon
(Beta Version)

This game was ported to BeOS by John Fehr, who unfortunately was unable to release it. Since it will most likely never be officially released, copying and playing it doesn't deprive him of any income. Most likely he'd be happy that all of his hard work hasn't gone to waste.

If you'd like to show your appreciation for everything he's ported to the BeOS, you can donate some money to his bike fund (one of the things he had to sell to pay for Wildcard Design expenses) paypal account, johnsbikefund@home.com. If you give a reason for the donation, put something like 'For all your hard work porting games to the BeOS'. (Because lawyers, rather like monkeys, are bad people, and if you say its for a certain game even if its not being sold, John will probably get a couple of them on his back.)

To use this beta, you must first realize two things:
1. Worms are expendable, and they make for highly effective projectiles.
2. You have to launch the game using Terminal.(BeOS | Applications | Terminal)
3. I know I said two, but the first one was common sense ... the game occupies about 80MB of hard drive space (This is due to a 40MB image file required for the game to work properly).

Instructions to install & launch the game: First, unzip the WA.zip file to an appropriate location, such as /boot/apps/. Then, open Terminal, change to the /boot/apps/WA/ folder, and run the PlayWorms.sh script file. This file mounts the WA.img file (to /WA) and launches the Worms: Armageddon executable. You can open the PlayWorms.sh file in StyledEdit if you would like to have one-click access to the game (instructions for this are provided within the file).

Important Notes: While this is the beta version of the game, the expiry date has been set some 20 years into the future through the use of DiskProbe. One of the major limitations of this beta version is the lack of Network play. This is a result of yet another company being BONEd by certain focus-shifts and financial issues. The beta has bugs, and other limitations that I cannot recall at the moment, but for the most part it is quite functional.

Disclaimer: This (leaked) release was entirely of my own volition, and though it violates the NDA I signed as a beta tester, I have assumed this contract to be null and void due to the dissolution of WC Design. Therefore, I have no legal restraint that I am aware of against undertaking this course of action. Any damage or losses incurred by the use of this beta-quality program are your own responsibility, no one but yourself is liable for your actions in the use of this
