About Intel i855 Driver:
This is a driver for the Intel Extreme chipset. Currently, it only supports the i855 and i865 graphics chips (known as Intel Extreme 2), but it's planned to expand this list in both directions, that is support for newer graphics chips and older too is wished.
Unfortunately, I only have a i865 chip with analog output, and that's exactly what this driver supports at this point. If you have similar hardware, and want it to be supported, I need your support (or hardware ;-) to achieve this.
The sources of this driver can be found in the Haiku source repository.
supported hardware.
The following hardware is supported right now:
- i865/i855 with analog output.
known issues.
- digital output should not work - could not test it, though.
- B_PROPOSE_DISPLAY_MODE does not yet work correctly, and thus, you can set display modes the chipset is not able to produce - that also affects BWindowScreen's modes (which probably won't work for the most part).
requirements.
The driver is known to work on BeOS R5 and Haiku.
installation.
There is a small installation script that you can use to install the driver. If you need to remove the driver, just delete it from your hard drive.
The accelerant is installed to /boot/home/config/add-ons/accelerants/, the kernel driver accordingly to /boot/home/config/add-ons/kernel/drivers/bin/.
